1. Dubai International Airport

Terminal 1, Terminal 2, and Terminal 3 are the main terminals of this airport. 

There are two identical runways close to Dubai Airport. The names of these runways are 12R/30L and 12L/30R. They have a length of 14,590 ft/7 feet and 13,120 ft/200 feet. 

2. O’hare International Airport

O’Hare International Airport, represented by its Chicago O’Hare Airport code, opened in 1955 with its headquarters in Chicago. It has a surface area of 7,627 acres. It is the hub of nearly 40 airlines and provides direct flights, internationally, to more than 60 destinations.

O’Hare Airport, having the ORD Airport code, has four terminals for passengers, with nine inscribed concourses and about 191 gates in all. The airport features two parallel runway sets, one on each of the sides.

In total, there are 8 runways occupying a total space of 79,866 feet. Except for the two of its runways, all other runways are made up of an asphalt surface. In 2018, this airport serviced about 83.4 million people. This is the reason why it is considered one of the biggest airports in the world.

3. London Heathrow Airport

Heathrow Airport, with the Heathrow Airport code, was previously called London Airport until 1966. Today it is called London Heathrow Airport. 

Presently, this airport handles a large number of passengers. In 2018, the airport served approximately 80,1 million passengers. There are six terminals with five of them being available to the public at this airport. The smaller sixth terminal is utilized by kings, politicians, and some celebrities only.

The Airport of Heathrow (LHR Airport code) has two runways. The 09L/27R Runway is 3,901meters and the 09R/27L Runway is 3,660 meters in length. These enormous lengths indicate well the size of this Airport. 

4. Tokyo Haneda Airport

One of the two major airports serving Greater Tokyo is the International Airport of Tokyo. Generally, it is known as Tokyo Haneda Airport. This airport, with the Tokyo Haneda Airport code, has three terminals for passengers. 

In 2018, this airport (HND Airport code) was intended to annually accommodate around 90 million people. Due to all such factors, the Tokyo Haneda Airport is said to be one of the biggest airports in the world.

Also, there are a total of four runways named 16R/34L, 16L/34R, 05/23, and 22/04 at this airport. It’s 16R/34L and 16L/34R runways are 3000 meters long and 60 meters wide. The 05/23 and 22/04 runways of the airport are 2,500 meters in length and 60 meters wide. All four runways consist of an asphalt surface. 

5. Los Angeles International Airport 

Los Angeles Airport is the leading international airport servicing Los Angeles and the surrounding metropolitan region. The entire area of the airport (Los Angeles Airport code) is 3,500 hectares. In 2018, this airport was able to handle a huge number of 87.5 million passengers.

A total of four runways of this airport, with the LAX Airport code, are available. These 4 runways have a total length of 650 feet. All of them have asphalt surfaces installed. LAX Airport features nine terminals for passengers with 146 gates in total. These are the elements that make airports like LAX the biggest airports in the world.
