Cannon Air Force Base (CVS)

Named in honour of General John Kenneth Cannon, Cannon Air Force Base (CVS Airport) is home to the 27th Special Operations Wing under the command of Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) in the heart of Clovis, New Mexico. The 27 SOW provides intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance and closes air support.

Established in 1942, Cannon Air Force Base (CVS Airport) houses special operations aircraft including the AC-130W Stinger II, MQ-1 Predator, MQ-9 Reaper, and CV-22 Osprey among others. This air force base was once an Air Combat Command, the status of which changed to Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) in the year 2006.
