Santos Dumont Airport, officially Aeroporto Santos Dumont, is the second major airport serving Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is named after the Brazilian aviation pioneer Alberto Santos Dumont (1873–1932). It is located in the Centro district of the city, about 2 kilometers (1.2 mi) from the historical center.
The airport was inaugurated on July 12, 1932, and was the main airport in Rio de Janeiro until the construction of Galeão International Airport in 1952. Santos Dumont Airport is now used for domestic flights and is the busiest airport in Brazil for regional flights.
