Rafael Hernández Airport is a joint civil-military airport located in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. It is Puerto Rico’s second largest international airport in terms of passenger movement, and is located in the Porta del Sol tourist region on the west coast of the island. The airport is also home to Coast Guard Air Station Borinquen and the Caribbean Branch of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations.
The airport was originally built as Ramey Air Force Base in 1942, and was closed in 1971. It was converted into a civilian airport in 1974, and was named after Rafael Hernández Marín, a Puerto Rican composer.
