Marechal Rondon International Airport, also known as Cuiabá International Airport, is the main airport serving the city of Cuiabá, the capital of the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil. It is located in the adjoining municipality of Várzea Grande, about 8 kilometers (5.0 mi) from the city center. The airport is named after Cândido Mariano da Silva Rondon, a Brazilian military leader and explorer who played a key role in the exploration and development of the western Brazilian interior.
Várzea Grande–Marechal Rondon International Airport is the main gateway to the Pantanal, the world’s largest tropical wetland. The airport is also an important hub for domestic flights within Brazil.
