Rafael Núñez International Airport is the main airport serving the Colombian city of Cartagena, capital of the Bolívar department. It is the largest airport in the northern Caribbean region of Colombia in terms of passenger traffic. It is located between the Caribbean coast and the Ciénaga de la Virgen swamp, in the center of Crespo, a neighborhood in northern Cartagena.
The airport was inaugurated in 1952 and was originally named Crespo Airport. It was renamed Rafael Núñez International Airport in 1986 in honor of the centenary of the Colombian Constitution, which was created by Rafael Núñez, a three-time president of Colombia and composer of the lyrics to the national anthem.
