Pointe-à-Pitre International Airport (PTP) is the main international airport serving the French Caribbean island of Guadeloupe. It is located in the commune of Abymes, about 2.4 kilometers (1.5 miles) north-northeast of the city of Pointe-à-Pitre. The airport is the second busiest in the Lesser Antilles, after Queen Beatrix International Airport in Aruba.
The airport was first opened in 1946 as a military airfield. It was converted to a civilian airport in 1951. The airport has been expanded and modernized several times since then, and it is now capable of handling large commercial aircraft.
